Cambridge/Nuremberg, 18 November 2025 – Technology company Signaloid is expanding Bosch Rexroth’s ctrlX OS ecosystem with an innovative hardware solution that brings trustworthy artificial intelligence (AI) to industrial automation. The solution will be presented at the SPS trade fair in Nuremberg.

Signaloid’s technology enables real-time assessment of the reliability of AI and machine learning models — from predictive maintenance to production process optimization. The result: increased machine uptime, lower maintenance costs, and more efficient use of resources.

With its C0-microSD+ modules, Signaloid provides a compact, energy-efficient computing platform that fits directly into the microSD slot of Bosch Rexroth’s ctrlX CORE controllers. Thanks to its plug-and-play design, companies can execute AI models using real-time data from the ctrlX OS Data Layer — complete with quantitative uncertainty analysis of results.

Unlocking the Full Potential of AI for Industry

Artificial intelligence and machine learning open up vast opportunities for industrial applications — from process optimization and predictive maintenance to more efficient resource utilization. These capabilities rely on data-driven predictions made by algorithms. However, these predictions are often based on uncertain or noisy data, for example due to sensor inaccuracies or loss of information during the digitization of real-world measurements. Such uncertainties can lead to incorrect decisions.

Signaloid solves this problem by making data uncertainties visible and quantifiable throughout computation. At the heart of the platform lies the C0 processor, a proprietary architecture capable of processing not only single values but entire probability distributions. This allows uncertainties to be quantified in real time, delivering dramatic performance gains compared to conventional processors. In benchmark tests, for example, the Signaloid platform achieved around 2,000 times faster uncertainty analysis for infrared camera data and roughly 95 times faster modeling of radiation absorption.

As a result, users can see how confident a prediction or decision truly is — providing the foundation for trustworthy AI in industrial applications.

Seamless Integration with ctrlX OS and Existing PLC Systems

Together with Bosch Rexroth’s ctrlX OS, the open Linux operating system for industrial controllers and edge devices, Signaloid’s platform integrates seamlessly into existing production environments. Plug-and-play modules in microSD or M.2 format allow existing PLC systems to be upgraded directly — without adding load to the main processor. This makes edge AI applications not only faster but also transparent and reliable. Alternatively, the Signaloid platform can also be deployed via cloud or hybrid solutions.
